ADRD Training for the Professional

Senior Care of Brevard is now offering the following training courses for professionals that care for those afflicted with Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders.

These courses meet the standards set by the State of Florida Department of Elder Affairs for Continuing Education Requirements.

The Training provider and curricula are approved and consistent with the provisions of Section 400.4176, F.S.

 

ADRD Training - Course Outline and Charges

Assisted Living Level I – Four Hour Curriculum (Indirect Care) Cost: $300.00/session

  • What is dementia and some of the characteristics
  • Understanding the characteristics of ADRD
  • How ADRD impacts the family
  • Communicating effectively with the ADRD resident
  • Identify ethical issues, beneficence, autonomy and justice, maintain dignity

Assisted Living Level I and II – Four Hour Curriculum (Direct Care) Cost: $600.00/session

  • Working with and managing behavioral problems with ADRD persons.
  • Learning how to work effectively with ADLs and encourage independence
  • Working with activities at different stages
  • Understanding the challenges the professional caregiver faces
  • Working with the families through placement and grieving issues.

Nursing Home, Hospice and Adult Day Care – Level I
(Indirect Care)
Cost: $ 75.00/session

  • Identify the characteristics of ADRD
  • How to communicate with the ADRD person and those who are unable to communicate
  • Understanding Dementia

Nursing Home, Hospice and Adult Day Care – Level I and II
(Direct Care)
Cost: $300.00/session

  • Understanding and managing behavioral problems
  • Assisting with ADLs and encouraging independence
  • Understanding how ADRD impacts the family
  • Challenges and frustrations of the professional caregiver
  • Working with ethical issues.
  • How to maintain dignity, beneficence, justice and autonomy

Home Health – Two Hour Curriculum (Direct Care)
Cost: $150.00/session

  • Understanding the characteristics of ADRD
  • Working with and understanding behavioral problems
  • Promoting effective communication
  • How to encourage independence in the person with ADRD
  • How to develop skills for working with families and caregivers
  • Community resources available to the caregiver

Once you have received this specialized training, there is no need to repeat the course, except for th ose individuals that work in Assisted Living Facilities.  Employees that work in Assisted Living Facilities are require d to attend yearly updates.  Each course hour applies towards your contact hours required for licensure in your profession.
